How to be part of the OPIRG Community-Based Research Program?

The OPIRG Community-Based Research Program not only funds research but also offers mentoring (before, during, and after), offering support in areas such as writing research proposals, acquiring research skills, conducting ethical research, as well as sharing the  research results with the community. OPIRG-Ottawa accepts proposals from both students and community groups.

Application Requirements

The OPIRG Community-Based Research Program not only funds research but also offers mentoring (before, during, and after), offering support in areas such as writing research proposals, acquiring research skills, conducting ethical research, as well as sharing the  research results with the community. OPIRG-Ottawa accepts proposals from both students and community groups

  • Be undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Ottawa
  • Be willing to work in collaboration with and take direction from one or more community groups
  • Be located in the National Capital Region
  • Be grassroots or non-profit organizations
  • Have a mandate oriented towards social, economic, and/or environmental justice
